Lunch & Learn

This isn't your typical DEI awareness training

One hour, with your team, on how its work is set up.

A live Lunch & Learn on Zoom for managers and teams. Slides, polls and prompts in the chat, so everyone can take part without having to unmute. Your team leaves with one pattern spotted in its own work.

13 years at TELUS, in all three seats: selling on the floor, managing the store, building the training.

Who it’s for

For a team that keeps hitting the same wall

  • A manager who has noticed the same people falling behind on the same kinds of work, and wants a better explanation than effort.

  • A team heading into a new system, a new schedule or a new office setup.

  • An HR or wellness lead booking a session for a theme month, who wants more than awareness.

What this isn’t

Awareness training, accommodation plans, workplace policy, or legal or medical advice. Those belong with your HR and legal people. This hour is about how the work is set up.

The hour

What happens in the hour

Six parts, each one short. Nobody is asked to share anything about themselves.

0:00

One question in the chat

A poll to open: what kind of work slows your team down most. No names, no right answer.

0:05

Different brains, same work

How attention, memory and time run differently from brain to brain, and why the usual advice lands for some people and not others.

0:15

Loops: the patterns

A Loop is a brain pattern with a name. We look at two that show up in most workplaces, and how each one meets everyday work.

0:30

Terrain: the room, the schedule, the people

The part of the work a manager can change. We hold one piece of your team’s week against it and see what shows up.

0:45

Spot one pattern

Your team picks one pattern in how its own work is set up, by vote in the chat. That is what it leaves with.

0:55

Close, and what happens next

Where the pattern goes from here, and the debrief with you a few days later.

Evan Kennedy | Founder

Who runs the hour

I’m Evan. I spent 13 years at TELUS: five on the sales floor, three managing a store, and five in Learning & Development, building and delivering training. I’ve run sessions like this one for teams that didn’t ask to be there, and I design for that.

Questions

Does it have to be at lunch?

No. It’s an hour on Zoom, and it runs whenever your team can be in the same call. Lunch is the usual slot, not a rule.

Does anyone have to share anything personal?

Can you come in person?

How do we pay?

Does this meet a legal requirement?

Thirty minutes, to see if it fits

Pick a time and we’ll talk through your team, a date and what you’d want from the hour.
